The Naturesave Trust has recently been awarded a grant for updating and improving the Wessex Community Energy Network website. The network was established in early 2018 to support the development of community energy groups in the Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Bath and Bristol area. Naturesave is a long-standing advocate of the community energy sector, due to its potential to play a key role in decarbonising our energy system. In addition to lowering emissions, community energy has further multiple benefits which include; creating employment, tackling fuel poverty and providing much-needed funds that can be directed to community projects.

Pete West, a director of Dorset Community Energy and secretary of WCEN said “The Wessex Community Energy Network is managed almost entirely by volunteers. This grant from The Naturesave Trust will enable us to employ external professional help to upgrade our website and also provide training for some of our volunteer members to add content and keep the website updated. An improved website will greatly enhance our ability to share information on community energy between our 21 member organisations and the wider public.”
