Sustainability Service offered to all Blue Patch members

We have been running sustainability support for SMEs since we first founded 30 years ago – funded by the Naturesave Trust. In 2023, after some years of planning (interrupted by the pandemic) we launched a new sustainability service that we felt would be a better fit for SMEs and more reactive to the market needs in a rapidly ever-changing (and worsening) climate and nature crisis.

Six months on we are beginning to see we are having all forms of requests for support from carbon footprinting guidance to policy development, with many interesting collaborations.

One collaboration has been with Blue Patch, the UK’s and Irelands top Sustainable Business Directory (of whom we are also a patron). Blue Patch’s member-based platform brings together products, services and information that will help the UK’s transition towards a more sustainable economy. This includes a wide range of businesses and organisations that produce artisanal handcrafted furniture, organic beauty products, ethical financial services, retrofit experts and many more low-carbon products and resources.

To join Blue Patch members (all of whom are SMEs) must produce a sustainability statement describing what values and activities make their business an ethical and sustainable one. The aggregate impact of SMEs is huge in reaching a net zero economy as SME’s make up 90% of businesses worldwide with SME’s comprising 99.9% of all UK business. For both Naturesave Insurance and Blue Patch SMEs are our core customer base, giving us a huge role in reducing carbon emissions.

Blue Patch members such as Coldharbour Lights, Rocworx, Petronilla Silver, Chloe Haywood and Judi Archer recently exhibited at the London Design Fair and will soon display at Decorex. In order to do so it was important that all members had their sustainability statements in order and were looking at calculating their carbon footprints so they could identify areas for reduction. All of the members had also been through the Let’s Do Net Zero Course at Blue Patch and so the Naturesave Sustainability service was the next step to help them complete the final stage of the journey.

 Lottie from Coldharbour Lights…..

“I was very lucky to find Alice at Positive Impacts. Alice has helped me, in very simple terms, to recognise the many elements involved in measuring our company’s carbon footprint. She has been instrumental in putting together our business environmental policy. I urge you to reap the benefits of working with Alice/Positive Impacts, for all our sakes.”

Our sustainability service used to just be open to Naturesave Insurance commercial clients, however The Naturesave Trust has given us the remit to open this service to ALL business.
